As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, we can look back with great pride on all that the children in 3rd and 4th Class have achieved. It has been a year filled with learning, creativity, friendship and fun, and the final few weeks have been especially memorable.
The children have worked exceptionally hard in both Maths and English throughout the year. During June, they completed daily dictation sentences, focusing on correct spelling, punctuation and presentation while continuing to develop their neat cursive handwriting. In Maths, they took part in a variety of games, challenges and daily focus tasks, revising all of the topics covered throughout the year in an enjoyable and engaging way.
Our class novel, There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar, was a huge hit with the children. They thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and took part in thoughtful discussions about the characters, their experiences and the important themes explored throughout the novel.
Creativity was on full display during our Summer Art projects. The children produced beautiful and colourful pieces, including My Summer Looks So Bright and Flip-Flops on the Beach. Their artwork brightened our classroom and showcased their imagination and artistic talents.
We also enjoyed plenty of fun activities together, including our World Cup Quizzes and the ever-popular How Well Do I Know My Teacher? challenge, which provided lots of laughter and friendly competition.
One of the highlights of the term was our Cultural Diversity Day. The children put an enormous amount of effort into researching their chosen countries and creating impressive projects. They baked and cooked traditional foods, dressed in cultural clothing and confidently presented their work to other classes. The feedback from across the school was overwhelmingly positive, with pupils learning so much about different countries and cultures while enjoying the fun quizzes prepared by the children. It was a wonderful celebration of diversity, learning and inclusion.
It has also been a very active month. The children participated enthusiastically in the Kelly, St. Brigid's and O' Donoghue Cups, swimming lessons and Marathon Relay Day. Even on rainy days, spirits remained high as Go Noodle brain breaks became a firm favourite, with everyone enjoying a dance to songs by Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.
Our school tour to the UL Adventure Centre in Killaloe on 15th June was another unforgettable experience. The children enjoyed an action-packed day taking part in high ropes climbing, team-building challenges, stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful, and everyone had a fantastic day filled with adventure, teamwork and laughter.
As the school year draws to a close, we would like to congratulate all of the children in 3rd and 4th Class on their hard work, kindness and enthusiasm. They have been a pleasure to teach and should be very proud of everything they have achieved this year.
A very special thank you goes to Karina for all of the care, support and dedication she has shown throughout the year. Her kindness, patience and hard work have made a huge difference to the children in3rd and 4th Class, and we are extremely grateful for all that she does.
We wish all of our pupils and their families a happy, safe and relaxing summer break.
