Senior Infants have been very busy since Easter with lots of exciting learning happening in the classroom. We were very lucky to compose our own song with Andrea from Music Generation complete with guitar and percussion accompaniment we are sure Woof Woof is going to be a big hit!
We have covered a lot of topics in Maths and have been busy exploring concepts through the use of concrete materials. We have been getting better and better at cooperating and now work easily in pairs and in small groups. We worked hard on the concept of weight, time and money and we did lots of activities around number – ten frames, partitioning and combining.
We have now finished The Beach House and we are well on our way to becoming confident independent readers. We are very mindful of the presentation of our work and we are working hard to ensure of writing is neat and legible. We are revising our phonics that were covered all year in the UFLI programme and taking every opportunity to use our new literacy skills.
We have enjoyed many many stories this term and the lessons they taught us. The Smartest Giant Town, Arnie the Doughnut and Ricky the Rock who couldn’t Roll are among our favourites.
Discussion has become an important part of our learning and we have developed very good turn taking skills
Senior Infants had a great day out on May 26th when we enjoyed a trip to the Woodlands in Adare in the glorious sunshine. We visited the pet farm and loved feeding the animals. We also played outdoor games, followed a treasure trail and had outdoor games all topped off with some delicious ice cream it really was an unforgettable day.
We completed the PAWS – Primary Aquatics Water Safety learning complete with a visit from lifeguards to ensure we understand the importance of water safety in homes, farms, pools, beaches rivers and canals.
We have worked really hard this term and managed to also have a lot of fun in between. We are looking forward to a lovely Summer break and returning in September ready for all the exciting things 1st Class will bring.
