Kilcornan National School Student Council

Student Council

We set up our new Student Council in September 2022. There are pupils from 3rd to 6th class on the council. All were elected by their class peers.

The Role of the Student Council:

·       Provide an opportunity for pupils to voice their opinions and offer suggestions in relation to many aspects of school life.

·       Offer an opportunity for all pupils to voice their opinions and thereby play a significant role in improving our school.

·       Encourage pupils of Kilcornan NS to participate in events in a positive way.

·       Acts as a channel of communication within the school between pupils and between school and home.

As good Councillors we are:

  • Good listeners
  • Trustworthy
  • Happy
  • Helpful
  • Committed
  • Honest
  • Reliable
  • Good team members
  • Confident
  • Caring

A suggestion box will be placed in the school reception and pupils can place concerns and ideas here for the council.

We will meet fortnightly/monthly to discuss issues and plan events. These meetings will be facilitated by Ms. Mullane and all meeting will be documented and reported back to classes. We will also update our notice board and website so stay tuned for plenty of updates!

Vex Robotics!

On the 28th January 2020,  5th & 6th class participated in the DELL VEX IQ Primary School Competition in DELL Limerick. This is a unique school project that gives pupils their first opportunity to learn about engineering and robots. Hundreds of pupils participated all bringing STEM skills to life with their designed and built robot to play against and with other teams.

With the help of Úna Murphy & past pupil Jason O Shaughnessy we were competition ready!

Amy, Willie, Stephen, Justin, Micheál and Kian were the designated drivers for the day!

We had a super day out and loved participating in the competition.

Thanks to Ms Quinn and Catherine for coming with us on the day.

Halloween 2019

Things got pretty spooky in Kilcornan National School on Friday 25th October! The newly elected Student Council organised a great Halloween colours day and costume competition to raise funds for the school. Thank you to Ms. Mullane and the council for the treats they provided for everyone. The face paint and costumes, both bought and home made, were extremely creative and many thanks to our parents for the effort they put in once again! All the pupils had a super day and it was a fitting end to their first 2 months of hard work in school. Well done everyone!

See the Gallery for more photos of the day!
