Hurling & Football

We enter girls and boys football and hurling competitions each year, as well as blitzes and 7-a-side games. Kilcornan National School also has its own hurling and football tournaments at the end of each year called the Kelly (hurling) and O’ Donoghue (football) Cups. We are very fortunate to have the experience of Paddy Ivess, Johnny Dunne and their team who give up their time each week to train the children in Gaelic Games. Their expertise and advice has been invaluable and the benefits are being clearly seen on the pitches.

The matches for the Kelly and O'Donoghue Cups will take place on Friday the 10th, Monday the 13th, Tuesday the 14th and Wednesday the 15th of June at 1.00 p.m.

Kelly Cup Final- Tuesday 21st June at 1.00 p.m

O'Donoghue Cup Final- Wednesday 22nd June at 1.00 p.m

The senior classes enjoyed having a rugby coach in for 6 weeks of the first term of school. This culminated in a rugby blitz where they got to display their new skills!

Each year, we compete in athletics in the University of Limerick. This year Kilcornan came out victorious with both girls and boys winning their respective categories! Well done to Ms. Mann and all the pupils!

Swimming lessons are currently taking place in Askeaton Swimming pool every Thursday for pupils from 2nd to 6th Class.
