School Library

The 6th of October 2017 will be remembered as a special day for Kilcornan National School. We are very proud and grateful to open our new school library. This marks the culmination of a year of planning and hard work by our amazing Parents’ Council. ‘Nothing happens, it is caused’ and this quote clearly illustrates the effort that has gone into making this day possible. Our heartfelt thanks to parents Sally Anne O’Toole, Pauline O’Gorman and their team for their dedication to making our school a better place. We would also like to thank the wonderful families and community members who continually support our school and in particular our Neven Maguire fundraiser last year. The addition of this library will help us to continue to promote a love of reading in our pupils as well as enhancing literacy skills. Coupled with this, our new library contains a ‘sensory corner’ which will be invaluable for all pupils. We are in no doubt that this was a day that will have a significant impact on all current and future pupils of Kilcornan National School.

We were delighted to have All Ireland winning Limerick hurlers and ‘Bord Gais Team of the Year’ members, Aaron Gillane and Kyle Hayes with us to celebrate this special occasion. Young men like these that exhibit teamwork and sportsmanship, while remaining grounded, humble and dedicated to both their sport and education are fantastic role models for our pupils. We wish them the best of luck with their clearly promising careers!

A sincere thank you to our secretary Lorraine Lynch for creating the sign for our new library. Lorraine continually shares her artistic talents with the school and we are very grateful to have her as part of our team!

The ‘Bookshed’ has been officially opened...
