As we look back on the term from January to Easter, it’s clear that 4th and 5th Class have had an exciting and productive few months, full of learning, achievements, and memorable experiences.
We kicked off the new year with great enthusiasm, quickly settling back into routines and setting goals for the months ahead. In maths, both classes made fantastic progress — tackling new concepts with determination and growing in confidence with problem-solving, fractions, and decimals. It was great to see everyone supporting each other during group activities and maths games, helping to make learning both fun and effective.
In history, we focused on World War II, with a special emphasis on what life was like in Ireland during the Emergency. The children completed fantastic projects on topics like rationing, the impact on Irish cities, and the stories of individuals who lived through that time. Their creativity shone through in their presentations, posters, and models.
This term also gave us the chance to celebrate the natural world during Biodiversity Week. We explored the importance of protecting different species, planted seeds, and created beautiful artwork inspired by Irish flora and fauna. Nature walks and outdoor learning sessions brought these lessons to life and reminded us of the role we all have in caring for our environment.
A huge highlight for 5th Class was their Confirmation. After lots of preparation— both in class and at home — the students made the sacrament in a beautiful ceremony, surrounded by their families, teachers, and parish community. It was a proud and meaningful moment for everyone involved.
We also enjoyed some lighter, festive moments. We wrapped up the term with an exciting Easter Egg Hunt, which brought lots of smiles (and a bit of friendly competition!) to the playground. It was a lovely way to celebrate all the hard work everyone has put in.
Beyond the main events, there were many smaller achievements too: improvements in reading and writing, greater independence with homework, teamwork in PE games, wonderful contributions during class discussions, and, most importantly, kindness and support shown to classmates each day.
It has been a term full of growth, fun, and learning. We are already looking forward to what the summer term will bring!
