Fifth & Sixth Class Easter Update

What a busy and fun term we have had! It began in January with 6th class competing in the VEX Robotics competition in Dell, Limerick. We had a super day out and finished it off with a pizza and hot food stop in Clarina. It was a great experience and thank you to Ian O’ Gorman and Jason O’ Shaughnessy for helping us to get competition ready.

On the 29th January we attended Peace Proms in UL. This was a unique opportunity to perform with a full orchestra. We were all tired on Monday but it was worth it!

We had super fun making St Brigid’s crosses to celebrate St Brigid’s day on the 1st February.

Fr Dominic and his colleagues hosted a Confirmation retreat for us in preparation for the Sacrament. Pupils took part in meditation, prayer and games on the day. Thank you to Fr Dominic for all his spiritual guidance this year.

On the 24th of February, we received the gifts of the Holy Spirit at our Confirmation. Thank you to Bishop Brendan, Fr Donworth and Fr Dominic for a beautiful ceremony. It was lovely to all celebrate together in the Community Centre after. A big thank you to the Parents Association for a great party and cool goodie bags.

We took part in Literacy station teaching. This is such a fun way to learn new things. Thank you Ms Ruddle for organising this.

As part of Green schools, we are taking part in their Primary Climate Ambassadors initiative. We are researching various themes and completing challenges to earn points on the Leader board. We ran a whole school zero waste lunch day which was a super success.

In History we learned about the 1916 Easter Rising. We went back in time and found out lots of facts and information.

In Art we explored the Irish artist Jack B Yeats. We learned lots of facts about him and studied many of his creations.

Thank you to Linda who helps us every day in our classroom.

Stay tuned for more updates.
