Fifth & Sixth Class Mid-Term Update

Welcome back to 5th and 6th class. We are all settling back well into our new classes. We were delighted to get back to seeing our friends after a lovely summer break.

In Literacy we became poets and took inspiration from Kenn Nesbitt and wrote poems titled ‘What I didn’t do this summer’. We worked on Recount and wrote our own autobiographies.

In SPHE, we explored the food pyramid and healthy eating. We kept food diaries and created healthy and balanced meal plans.

We also complied memory boxes and presented these to the class. We had great fun telling and listening to the stories behind the items we chose.

6th class took part in a football blitz in Colaiste Mhuire, Askeaton. This was a super fun day out and we played very well together as a team.

Using old magazines and newspapers, we made collages of our favourite things as one of our art projects. We were all very creative and enjoyed this activity.

During Maths week, we completed various challenges. We used Lego bricks to build pyramids and spaghetti to construct bridges.

We have started practicing for Peace Proms which will take place in January. The songs are very catchy and we already know some of them, this will be a fantastic opportunity to sing with an orchestra in UL.

We attended an online interview with Katie O’ Brien. Katie is a gold-medal winner and para-athlete. Her story of perseverance and determination inspired us on how to deal with a challenge. This is part of the Inspiring Ireland- Inspiring Students programme that Limerick Education Centre are running. We Look forward to the next interview.

Well done everyone on a great term. Ms. Mullane is so proud of all the hard work everyone is doing.

Have a spooktacular Mid term Break!
