2nd Class Mid Term Update 2025

We’ve been working hard across all of our subjects and having lots of fun learning along the way. Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to before we head off for our well-deserved mid-term break.

In Maths, we have been learning all about 2D shapes. The children can now identify and describe shapes like triangles, circles, squares, rectangles, hexagons, and octagons. We had lots of fun creating patterns using chalk, puzzles and created our own shape pictures.

In Literacy, our class has been diving into Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We’ve loved meeting Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, and all the other unforgettable characters. We have also been working on recount writing and have written many pieces together as a class and individually. We have loved playing lots of oral language games

As part of our SESE work, we explored card games that our parents and grandparents. The class learned some new card games and took turns teaching one another how to play. It was great to see how much fun we could have with just a deck of cards.

In Science, we’ve been learning all about optical illusions and how our eyes and brains can sometimes be tricked! We looked at different types of illusions, including ones that appear to move or change colour, and we even created our own art pieces. The children were amazed to discover how our brains can see things that aren’t really there!

In P.E. we have been working on the athletics strand. We have enjoyed playing lots of games and most especially loved using the athletics equipment.

To finish off our first half-term, we decorated the classroom with lots of spooky decorations and created lots of Halloween art pieces.

Thanks to Linda for all the help she gives us in the classroom everyday.
